Mission Possible/faith in ACT!ON 2020

faith in ACT!ONOur annual faith in ACT!ON campaign begins May 17th. This year’s theme will be “Mission Possible” as we seek to live out our commission to be the Body of Christ – literally and physically – by doing acts of love and compassion for our neighbours and community. This year, as in years past, we are planning several projects that allow us to support God’s creation, our church and our community. We recognize that during the COVID-19 crisis that it is especially necessary that we can be the church to our community. Some of our projects this year have a special focus to provide resources and encouragement to our front-line workers. We have planned activities that can allow us to act collectively from our home as we practice social distancing.

Mission Possible/ faith in ACT!ON Projects:

Gardening at St. A’s
Gardening at St. A's

Calling all gardeners!! We are looking for volunteers to help plant flowers and vegetables in the beds around St. A’s on our Gardening Day at St. Andrew’s – to be determined. Volunteers will work in shifts of 5 people and proper social distancing measures will be in place. For those interested in helping out, please bring your own gardening gloves and tools.

In addition to the Gardening Day, we are also asking for volunteer assistance throughout the spring and summer months to help with weekly weeding and watering to maintain our church gardens.

We are also seeking handy woodworkers to make some picket-fencing for the vegetable gardens.

Protective Face Masks Sewing Project
Protective Face MasksFor those in the congregation who are handy with a sewing machine and a needle and thread, we will be making protective face masks to be donated.

The face mask instructions can be found here.

Collection of the protective face masks will occur on June 6th at the church.

Food Bank Drive

  • Pork and beans
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tuna
  • Canned meat
  • Canned pasta and sauce (e.g. Alphagetti, Chef Boyardee ravioli)
  • PLEASE NO PASTA (as there has been an overabundance of pasta at the food bank)

Clothing Drive
As you clean out your closets during your Spring Cleaning, please set aside any unwanted clothing. We will be accepting any clean and gently used clothing at a later date in the fall as donation centre are not current accepting clothing.

24 Hour Prayer
24 Hour PagerThroughout the month of May, we will be collecting donations, utilizing our financial resources and completing acts of service to support creation, our church and our community. As we complete this work we will be praying for support, guidance and encouragement for our faith in ACT!ON leaders and participants, for our church, our community and our world.

Volunteers will be participating in a 24-hour prayer vigil where they will spend one hour of the day praying remotely at home. Appreciation Cards to for Hospital Workers and EMS
Our faith in ACT!ON team has felt called to show our appreciation to the workers at Brampton Civic Hospital and Peel Memorial Hospital as they care for the sick and those stricken with COVID-19 and to the Emergency Services workers as they keep us safe and respond to people in crisis. To do this, volunteers are asked to write cards, letters and emails to show their appreciation for the hard work and dedication to keeping our community healthy and safe by these front-line workers.
Thank You Health Care WorkersFirst Responders
